Methodism was established in Petersburg (Addison) in 1819 when circuit rider preachers conducted services in homes. In 1907, the Addison Methodist Chruch was built with bell tower, interior cherry woodwork and distinctive stained glass windows by Howard and Nelson Wright, father-son carpenter team. A carillon chimes out music daily over the village at noon and 6 p.m.

 The beautiful stained glass windows were installed in memory of church members.

The church has always been a strong presence in the community, ministering to the people.
